Vinyasa is a style of yoga that is a modern day hybrid of many ancient techniques, it is a fast flowing sequence of movements and postures that will provide a great cardio workout along with muscle toning and strengthening. It is geared toward a physically fit, active person seeking a healthy alternative to cross-fit or those who just want to lose weight.The class will include learning breathing techniques to help tone and expand your lung capacity. Vinyasa also helps to flush out toxins, water weight and boost performance of the lymphatic system and organs.
Hatha is slower-paced stretching-focused class which emphasize holding the postures longer. This is a good opportunity to work on your alignment, learn relaxation techniques, and become comfortable with doing yoga while building strength and flexibility. You will stretch, unwind, and release tension, providing a good complement to both busy lifestyles and cardio workouts. This class can still be challenging both physically and mentally. It will also includes meditation and breathing technique.
Great for beginners, students on the mend from injuries and anyone interested in a slower and gentler paced class to help stretch and relax. The class will combine breathing exercises (pranayama) and postures (asanas) to enhance flexibility, balance and calmness in the mind as well as body. Modifications will be offered for all levels of students and physical conditions. A calming, stress-relieving yoga class to stretch and strengthen the body gradually. Students of ALL Levels are welcome.
Power Yoga is a fitness-based vinyasa practice. It has many of the same qualities and benefits of a Vinyasa Flow Yoga class including building internal heat, increased stamina, strength, and flexibility, as well as stress reduction. It is a fast pace vigorous yoga practice and includes core work. Great for those that want to loose weight and tone the body.
Guided meditation is a state of relaxed concentration led by an instructor. The guide will instruct you to relax specific muscles in the body until they are comfortable and will then lead you through mental images and visualizations. Guided meditation will run for 30 minutes but anyone can join for as long as they want to. The purpose of this mediation is to achieve mental, emotional and physical healing and stress relief. Mommy and Me
A free-form, play based practice to connect parents or caregivers with their toddler and their community. We will practice traditional yoga poses and breath work to foster a connection between body and mind. A lighthearted environment will encourage exploration, ease and bonding between parent and child. During the class, the toddlers get to playfully practice postures, such as sitting, standing, and jumping. Parents get to do a little yoga themselves. Class is for Toddlers ages = 2 – 4 years old. No yoga experience necessary. Price: Mommy and me is considered regular yoga classes at the studio 13 euros and 5 euros per additional toddler or child.
Yoga nidra ( “yogic sleep”) is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the “going-to-sleep” stage. It is a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and the practitioner becomes systematically and increasingly aware of the inner world by following a set of (audio) instructions. This state of consciousness (yoga nidra) is different to meditation in which concentration on a single focus is required. In yoga nidra the practitioner remains in a state of light pratyahara with four of his senses internalised (withdrawn) and only the hearing still connects to the instructions. The yogic goal of both paths, deep relaxation (yoga nidra) and meditation are the same, a state called samadhi.
Yoga nidra, lucid sleep, is among the deepest possible states of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness. In lucid dreaming, one is only (or mainly) cognizant of the dream environment, and has little or no awareness of one’s actual environment.
The practice of yoga relaxation has been found to reduce tension and anxiety. The autonomic symptoms of high anxiety such as headache, giddiness, chest pain, palpitations, sweating and abdominal pain respond well. It has been used to help soldiers from war cope with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Restorative yoga is about slowing down and opening the body through passive stretching. During long holds, your muscles relax deeply. It’s a completely different feeling from other types of yoga classes since props like bolsters, blankets and blocks are used to support your body instead of your muscles. Restorative classes are very slow and gentle using dimmed lights and soft music making them an excellent antidote to stress and anyone recovering from any type of injury. Restorative yoga is an excellent opportunity to disconnect from the frenetic activity of daily life, calms the nervous system, deepens self and body awareness and moving you towards balance and healing. The classes are offered monthly on Sunday’s at the end of the month. Registration is required.
